Subscription & Payment
TariffBase offers flexible subscription plans designed for different business needs and budgets. All plans are billed through Stripe, ensuring secure payment processing. This page explains the available plans, how billing works, and how to manage your subscription.
Subscription Plans
TariffBase offers a free trial and three paid plan families:
Free Trial
- Price: Free for 10 days
- Credit card required: No
- Features: Access to core tools including Tariff Search, Schedule Browser, and Tariff News
- Limit: One free trial per account
The free trial is designed to let you evaluate the platform before committing to a paid plan. All trial features are fully functional -- not limited or sample versions.
Tariff Standard
- Best for: Importers, exporters, and trade professionals who need tariff rate lookups and trade intelligence
- Billing: Monthly or Annual (save 20% with annual billing)
- Key features:

Classification Standard
- Best for: Businesses that need HS code classification capabilities alongside trade intelligence

Professional

Note: The Tariff Standard and Classification Standard plans are designed as separate tracks for different use cases. If you need both tariff search and HS classification, choose the Professional plan.
Choosing a Plan
To subscribe or change your plan:
- Navigate to Account in the sidebar.
- Click Subscription to view available plans.
- Review the features and pricing for each plan.
- Click the appropriate button:
- Start Free Trial for the trial plan
- Select for the plan you want
- For paid plans, you will be redirected to a secure Stripe checkout page to enter payment details.
- After successful payment, your subscription is activated immediately.

Annual Billing
Toggle the Annual Billing switch on the plans page to see annual pricing. Annual plans save 20% compared to monthly billing and are charged as a single annual payment.
Plan Switching Rules
TariffBase enforces specific rules to ensure clear billing and prevent confusion:

Why are some transitions blocked? The Tariff Standard and Classification Standard plans provide access to different feature sets. Switching between them would cause confusion about which features are available. If you need features from both, the Professional plan includes everything.
Payment Process
- When you select a paid plan, you are redirected to a Stripe checkout page.
- Enter your payment details (credit card, debit card, or other supported methods).
- Stripe processes the payment securely.
- Upon successful payment, you are redirected back to TariffBase with your subscription activated.
TariffBase does not store your credit card numbers or payment details. All sensitive payment information is handled exclusively by Stripe, which is PCI DSS Level 1 compliant.
Managing Your Subscription
Upgrading
- Select a higher-tier plan from the subscription page.
- Stripe automatically calculates a prorated credit from your current plan's unused time and applies it to the new plan.
- The upgrade takes effect immediately.
Cancelling
- Click Cancel Subscription in your Account Settings.
- Confirm the cancellation when prompted.
- Your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period. You will not be charged again.
- After the period ends, your account reverts to a limited state.
Renewal
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annually).
- Stripe will attempt to charge your payment method on file.
- You will receive a notification from Stripe before renewal.
- To prevent renewal, cancel your subscription before the renewal date.
Billing & Invoices
To manage billing details and view invoices:
- Go to Account Settings.
- Click Manage Billing to open the Stripe billing portal.
From the Stripe portal, you can:
- Update your payment method
- View all past invoices with amounts and dates
- Download PDF invoices for accounting and record-keeping
Failed Payments
If a payment fails (e.g., expired card, insufficient funds):
- Stripe will automatically retry the payment.
- You will receive an email notification to update your payment method.
- If the payment continues to fail, your subscription may be suspended until the payment issue is resolved.
Important Notes
- All billing is in USD. Prices are quoted in US dollars.
- No refunds on cancellation. When you cancel, you retain access until the end of the paid period, but no partial refund is issued.
- Prorated credits on upgrades. When you upgrade mid-cycle, Stripe credits the unused portion of your current plan toward the new plan's cost.
- One active subscription per account. You cannot hold multiple active subscriptions simultaneously.
- Free trial is one-time. Each account is eligible for one free trial. Once used, it cannot be reactivated.
- Swiss jurisdiction. TariffBase operates under Swiss law. For details on data handling, see our Privacy Policy.
