Find answers to common questions about TariffBase, its features, data, subscriptions, and billing.
TariffBase is a web-based platform that provides professional tariff data and trade intelligence for small and medium businesses. It combines operational tools (tariff search, schedule browsing, HS code classification, and API access) with strategic intelligence (trade news, regulatory tracking, and expert reports) in one affordable platform.
TariffBase is built for anyone involved in international trade who needs quick, reliable access to tariff data -- including e-commerce importers, small manufacturers, exporters, distributors, freight forwarders, trade compliance professionals, and researchers.
TariffBase currently covers the United States, the European Union (all 27 member states), and China. These three markets account for approximately 43% of global imports.
All tariff data is sourced exclusively from official government customs authorities. We do not use third-party aggregators. For more details, see Data Sources & Coverage.
Data is updated regularly, with additional updates for major tariff actions (e.g., new trade measures or executive orders). Annual tariff schedule revisions are processed as each country publishes its new schedule. See Data Sources & Coverage for details on update frequency.

TariffBase offers three paid plan families:
All paid plans are available in monthly and annual billing. Annual plans save 20%.
Tariff Standard focuses on tariff rate lookup and schedule browsing -- ideal for importers and exporters who need to check duty rates. Classification Standard focuses on HS code classification using the AI-powered HS Finder -- ideal for businesses that need to classify products. If you need both, the Professional plan includes all features.
Some transitions are allowed and others are restricted:
Payments are processed securely through Stripe. When you select a plan, you are redirected to a Stripe checkout page to enter your payment details. TariffBase does not store your credit card information.
When you cancel your subscription, you retain access until the end of the current billing period. No partial refund is issued. We recommend using the free trial to evaluate the platform before subscribing.
Go to Account Settings and click Cancel Subscription. Confirm the cancellation when prompted. Your access will continue until the end of the current billing period.
Click Manage Billing in your Account Settings to access the Stripe billing portal, where you can view and download all past invoices as PDF files.
Use the Tariff Search tool. Select a destination country, an origin country, and enter a product HS code. The system returns all applicable tariff rates, including MFN duties, preferential rates, and additional measures. See the Search guide for detailed instructions.
Duty stacking occurs when multiple tariff regimes apply to the same product simultaneously. For example, a product imported into the US from China might face a base MFN rate plus a Section 301 additional tariff plus an IEEPA surcharge. TariffBase shows all components and the stacked total so you can see the full duty burden.
The HS Finder is an AI-assisted tool that helps you identify the correct HS code for your product based on a plain-language description. It provides a structured classification report with reasoning and recommended codes. See the HS Finder guide for details.
No. The HS Finder provides suggested classifications to support your decision-making. It is not a legally binding ruling. For binding classifications, consult your national customs authority's ruling process or a licensed customs broker.
No. TariffBase covers customs duties only. Value-added tax (VAT), goods and services tax (GST), and other domestic consumption taxes are not included.
You can search using codes at any level of specificity:
