Regulatory Tracker

The Regulatory Tracker in TariffBase is designed to help users monitor global tariff changes, trade policies, and regulatory updates through an interactive timeline and detailed action list. This tool simplifies tracking critical developments in international trade.

1. Accessing the Regulatory Tracker

To access the Regulatory Tracker:

  1. Navigate to Regulatory Tracker from the left-side navigation menu.
  2. The main page will display:
    • A Timeline visualization of key regulatory actions.
    • A List View of detailed trade policy actions with additional information.

2. Using the Timeline

The timeline offers a visual overview of major regulatory updates:

  • Each label on the timeline represents a significant trade action or policy change.
  • Clicking on a label in the timeline will automatically select and highlight the corresponding entry in the list below for more details.

Example: Clicking on "United States: S301 China Stage 3 Updated" in the timeline will highlight the related entry in the list.

3. Understanding the List View

The list provides detailed information about each regulatory action, displayed in the following columns:

  • Date Effective: The effective date of the policy or tariff change.
  • Country: The country implementing the action.
  • Action: A brief description of the regulatory change.
  • Tariffs: Displays the applicable tariff rates (if available).
  • Status: Shows whether the action is active (e.g., Effective, Suspended, etc.).

4. Viewing Detailed Information

To view additional details for a specific entry:

  1. Click the Show Details button in the corresponding row.
  2. The expanded view will include:
    • Action Short: A concise description of the regulatory update.
    • Products: The total trade value or products affected by the policy.
    • Partners: Countries impacted by the change.
    • HS Codes: Number of tariff lines covered.
    • Source: Links to official references or documents.
    • Additional Info: Clarifications such as rate adjustments or effective date changes.

Example:

  • Action Short: S301 China Stage 4A Updated
  • Products: $126 billion
  • Partners: China
  • HS Codes: 3,229 tariff lines
  • Additional Info: Effective September 1, 2019 (15%), reduced February 14, 2020 (7.5%).

5. Tips for Effective Use

  • Use the Timeline for a visual snapshot of trade policy changes over time.
  • Click on timeline labels to instantly locate and expand relevant entries in the list.
  • Click Show Details for comprehensive information about trade policies, tariff rates, and their implications.
