2. Understanding the Results

The HS Finder tool returns comprehensive classification information to help you understand the identified HS code.

Classification Report

  • PRODUCT: Provides a brief description of the product based on the provided input.
  • REASONING: Explains the logic behind the HS code classification, highlighting key product characteristics that determine the code.
  • CONCLUSION: Displays the most relevant HS code(s) identified by the system.

Example: For the product description "Tesla Model 3 car," the system identified the HS code 870380 for electric motor vehicles.

3. HS Code Hierarchy

Below the classification report, the tool displays an expandable HS code hierarchy to provide additional context:

  • The hierarchical tree structure shows broader product categories and how the identified HS code fits into these categories.
  • The selected HS code is highlighted in blue for easy identification.

For example, the HS code 870380 belongs to:

  • 8703 - Motor cars and other motor vehicles designed for passenger transport.
  • 870380 - Other vehicles with only electric motors for propulsion.

This structure helps users see alternative codes that may also be relevant.

4. Tips for Effective Searches

  • Be specific when describing your product to improve the accuracy of the identified HS code.
  • Avoid overly vague or ambiguous terms that may result in multiple potential codes.
  • Use technical terms or industry-standard language where applicable for best results.

By leveraging the HS Finder tool, users can efficiently determine accurate HS codes to support correct tariff classification and ensure compliance with international trade regulations.
